She's a Trooper

This weekend (including Monday and Tuesday - I like to define my own weekends) was a hell of a weekend, an absolute marathon of early mornings, full days, and late nights. But I mean that in a good way, in the best possible way. Friday evening Molly's grandparents, all of them, arrived to smother her with kisses and attend her baptism on Sunday. Sunday morning, our good friends Ben and Beth (who happen to be Molly's godparents) and their adorable daughter, Mikayla, came to be at the baptism and then spend a few days with us. It was the kind of weekend when you wake up every day full of joyful anticipation about how you get to spend your day and grateful for the people you get to spend your day with. I decided I would do a few mini posts on Molly's baptism and her first trip to the ocean (in the next few days), but first I just want to brag on my amazing little girl.

Molly was thrilled to see her Nana & Papa again

I've mentioned before how I worry about Molly's socialization because we live so far from our families and when we do socialize it tends to be in small groups. Not only is she getting slightly attached to me, but she's also never really been around a larger group of people who all want to be around her at once (except when we visited Kentucky in March, but she mostly slept through everything then). So I was a bit worried about how she'd do spending the weekend with a house full of people (including an adorable and very active toddler), all of whom would want to get their own Molly time. Plus, though Molly now naps regularly and steadily (thank God!), she tends to be a light sleeper during the day, and I didn't know how all of the activity would affect her newly acquired napping prowess.

Let me just tell you, my little girl was a champ, an absolute champ. Her schedule was in absolute upheaval this weekend, with late naps almost every day, lots of time spent out and about, and even a day when she had to grab her naps in the car, and she rocked it. She was happy and sweet the entire time and took good, solid naps (even a two-hour nap on Monday!). She loved being cuddled by anyone who wanted to see her (though she still preferred to be able to see me somewhere). She gave countless kisses and smiles and giggles and simply delighted everyone around her.

No matter how many times I tell myself to stop underestimating my daughter, it seems like I keep doing it. She is an absolutely amazing baby, smart and strong-willed but willing to roll with the punches and be content wherever she is. I couldn't be more in love with her and, if this weekend was any indication, I'm not the only member of her fan club.
